Austin Car Project

I made this car from scrap materials, mainly aluminium sheeting, found at the local dump of ex government aeroplanes; much available at that time. I also found perspex for the wind screen there.

The frame was made from scrap timber; the hood from an ex navy hammock, it was frightening to drive! Any passengers were petrified! The brakes were operated by cables which sretched further every time I drove it but it was great fun.
Maximum speed was 45 miles per hour. There were very few other cars on the road at that time. You didn't need to take a driving test then. See the model I later made of this car.
